Behold, I Am Doing a New Thing: Finding Hope in Isaiah 43:19

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” – Isaiah 43:19

Have you ever felt like you’re not getting it right with God? Like no matter how much you pray, read your Bible, or try to be faithful, you still feel distant. Like you’re wandering in a dry, empty place? Sis, if that’s you, this word is for you.

“Behold, I am doing a new thing”

God starts with a call to attention... Behold! That’s not just a casual word; it’s a declaration, a divine interruption. God is saying, Stop! Look! Pay attention! Sometimes, we’re so focused on our past mistakes, our failures, or the weight of life that we miss what God is trying to show us.

God is doing something new in your life. Even if you can’t see it yet, even if it doesn’t feel like it, He is working. That guilt you carry? That shame from your past? That feeling that you’re not “Christian enough”? God is saying, I’m doing something new in you, right now.

“Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?”

This part gets me every time. God isn’t just doing a new thing. He’s doing it now. Not someday. Not when you finally “get it together.” Not when you’ve checked off every box of what a perfect Christian should look like. Right now.

But here’s the thing: Sometimes we don’t perceive it. We’re so caught up in the mess, the stress, and the self-doubt that we don’t even notice God moving. It’s like being so consumed with your brokenness that you don’t realize healing has already begun.

Sis, open your eyes. What if the very thing you’ve been praying for is already taking root? What if your healing, your breakthrough, your deeper connection with God is already in motion, but you just haven’t recognized it yet? Ask Him to help you see it.

“I will make a way in the wilderness”

The wilderness represents a place of dryness, confusion, and uncertainty. It’s that season where you feel lost, where nothing seems to be working, where you question if God is even there. And yet, God says He will make a way, a path where there was none before.

Maybe you’ve been feeling like your prayers aren’t enough, like your spiritual life is stuck, like you’re just not good enough to have that deep relationship with God. But sis, God is not waiting for you to find your way to Him. He’s coming to you. He is making a way through your doubt, your struggles, your past, and leading you into something greater.

“And rivers in the desert”

A desert is a place of barrenness, emptiness, and exhaustion. It’s the feeling of running on empty, trying to be strong but secretly wondering if you’re going to make it. And God says, I will put rivers there. Not just a small stream, not just enough to barely survive. Rivers. Overflowing, abundant, life-giving water in the driest places of your soul.

Sis, if you feel empty, God is about to pour into you. If you feel unworthy, He is about to flood you with His love. If you feel distant, He is about to wash over you with His presence. His grace is not a sprinkle. It’s a river. And it’s flowing straight to you.

God Is Doing Something New in You

Isaiah 43:19 is a promise. A love note from the Father to remind you that He sees you, He knows your struggles, and He’s not done with you yet.

You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t have to “fix” yourself before coming to Him. He’s already moving in your life. The question is will you perceive it? Will you trust that He is making a way, even when you can’t see it? Will you open your heart and let His rivers of grace and love flow through you?

Sis, God is doing a new thing in you. Right now.

Behold it. Believe it. Walk in it.

A Prayer for Trusting God’s New Thing

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your promises and for always working in ways beyond what we can see or understand. Your Word declares that You are doing a new thing, that it is already springing forth, and that You are making a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Lord, help us to perceive it.

For those who feel lost, remind them that You are guiding their steps. For those who feel weary, refresh them with Your presence. For those who feel unworthy, let them experience the depth of Your love and grace. Where there is doubt, replace it with faith. Where there is fear, bring peace. Where there is emptiness, pour out Your living water.

May we trust that even in seasons of uncertainty, You are making a way. Help us to release the past, embrace the new, and walk boldly in the path You have set before us. Strengthen our hearts to believe in Your promises and to recognize Your hand at work in our lives.
